SUMMARY:Increasing Connection Group
DESCRIPTION:Understand what gets in the way of healthy connections.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMany clients experience a sense of disconnection in their lives. Increasing Connection is an open discussion group where individuals share successes and struggles in their efforts to build connections. This group is designed to help members deepen their understanding of what gets in the way of building healthy connections. \nClients are expected to offer and receive support and feedback and will be encouraged to focus on their actions and choices. The goal of the Increasing Connection group is to help clients build more meaningful connections and develop a healthy balance between autonomy and dependence in relationships. \n\n\n\n\nFacilitated by: Emily Clark\, LCSW & Lauren Lucitt\, PsyD (Clinical Supervisor: Julie Sauber\, Psy.D. #PSY30179)\n\n

Along with nutrition education\, the group will discuss the role of physical activity\, sleep\, stress reduction\, and mindfulness in supporting participants’ ongoing quest toward recovery and health. \nThe importance of nutrition and the gut-brain axis on mental health is gaining traction in the medical community as our understanding of the microbiome and the brain’s use of nutrients is becoming more clear. \nFacilitated by: Katherine Dittman\, RD

SUMMARY:Relapse Prevention Skills
DESCRIPTION:– \nRecovery from substance use\, or any problem behavior\, can seem daunting\, but it doesn’t have to be. With the right tools\, skills\, and strategies\, and in the context of learning\, practicing\, and being with others in a supportive\, validating environment\, you can change. In doing so\, you can create a solid path forward. You can change your life\, discover your best self\, and build a fulfilling future full of possibility. \nThis group is intended for people who are early in the process of changing their lives and behavior patterns. The material is grounded in science and delivered in a structured\, informative way that combines education with discussion and skills practice. \nThe topics covered are based on current scientific knowledge of substance use and recovery and include: the neurophysiology of substance use and abuse; tolerance and withdrawal; stages of change; coping with triggers (situational\, cognitive\, physiological\, and emotional); creating routines; and more. \nChanging your life and living in recovery may seem challenging\, but there is hope. You can learn to cope with life on life’s terms without relying on a substance. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr.\, \n“You don’t have to see the whole staircase\, just take the first step.” \nWe invite you to join us and take that first step. \n– \nFacilitated by: Laureen Turner Worden\, MS\, PhD
