Trauma Treatment

Trauma Treatment: From Surviving to Thriving

Our comprehensive and individualized approach to trauma treatment sets us apart from other mental health clinics. Trauma-informed therapies, led by our exceptional staff, include evidence-based treatments for adults whose symptoms significantly impair daily activities, including work, school, family, and social functioning. Our approach focuses on addressing the emotional experience of trauma, as we understand that any event can be traumatic if it leads to a loss of one’s sense of safety. Symptoms include:

Severe fear, anxiety, or depression

Avoidance behavior

Disrupted eating and sleeping patterns

Intrusive thoughts or images

Emotional numbness

Addictive use of alcohol or drugs

Unrelenting guilt, shame, self-blame

Feelings of hopelessness

Obsessive thought patterns that may manifest as compulsions, addictions, and codependency

“Trauma creates change you don’t choose. Healing is about creating change you do choose.”

–Michelle Rosenthal

Psychotherapy

We provide all of our clients with experienced mental health professionals who prioritize evidence-based, scientific approaches to ensure you receive the highest quality treatment. Our multidisciplinary team, including medical doctors, nurses, and specialists, works together to design personalized treatment plans and guide you through your entire journey. Group meetings and education are available to our clients’ partners, spouses, and children as part of our inclusive treatment strategy. Individual and family therapy are integral part of an overall treatment program led by a dedicated team of psychologists.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is a skill-based treatment that targets distressing thoughts that haunt individuals after a traumatic event. Methods challenge fixed thinking patterns by discussing emotions and exploring trauma’s impact. CBT aims to change thoughts, improving safety, trust, control, and self-esteem, offering a new perspective on the past event.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)

PE Therapy targets the post-traumatic feelings of panic, fear, anger, and anxiety, complementing CBT’s focus on thoughts. It incorporates education, breath training for relaxation, and exposure to trauma reminders. Exposure can be through detailed recall or real-life experiences, gradually reducing emotional reactivity to trauma reminders.

Somatic Psychotherapy

Somatic psychotherapy acknowledges the connection between mind and body. It helps regulate the nervous system by focusing on bodily experiences and releasing stored trauma. Studies have demonstrated that this approach can result in significant improvements in patients experiencing PTSD, and our clinicians are at the forefront of utilizing this science-backed technique.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapeutic approach that uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, hand taps, or auditory tones, to facilitate the brain’s natural healing mechanisms. Because the brain doesn’t process traumatic events properly, individuals may experience them repeatedly.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

TMS is an FDA-approved painless procedure that uses a magnetic field to stimulate the brain’s dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, which plays a key role in mood. This non-invasive procedure is effective for treatment-resistant depression. Side effects are minimal, and it offers hope for those who haven’t found relief through medication.
