Shining a Light on Recovery

September 10 @ 5:30 pm-6:50 pm

This group offers participants a safe space in a group setting to explore and process topics that
offer insight and skills while navigating sobriety and life. The virtual setting is a respectful and
sacred space to honor your journey from addiction to the unfolding decision-making process of
wanting to live a sober life. Shining the light on your recovery is an opportunity to honor the
old story and patterns that once worked and to make room in your life to create a new
narrative that aligns with your current values and aspirations. This is a community of
courageous individuals coming together on a weekly basis to support one another through the
many layers of recovery and to build upon the part of you that wants sobriety.

Core group themes:

  • Psychoeducation: involves educating participants about the recovery process, reviewing
triggers that might lead to relapsing and fostering healthier tools to emotionally
    regulate.
  • Interpersonal skills: explore improving interpersonal relationships and social
    functioning.
  • Fostering agency: Explore internal and external resources that cultivate maintaining
sobriety, i.e. what works and what does not work.
  • Skills and tools development: participants learn and practice new skills and tools to cope
and manage life in a sober fashion. Discover and explore skills to practice healthier
boundaries, especially when new to sobriety.
  • Cultivate community: explore ideas to implement in order to establish sober resources
both in and outside of program.

The group is for clients who want to explore and foster healthier tools and skills to manage
sobriety as well as gain insight into the layers that fed the addictions(s). This is a non-
judgmental, safe and compassion space that honors both the individual and collective
experience.

This group is facilitated by Christine Pappas, PsyD.
